Lots of things have been happening this week:
I've begun submitting to publishers this month; not just the Jukepop thing, but a few others as well. Now is the time when for the next few months, I will be obsessively watching my email and just generally being a nervous wreck. Woo.
Robin Hood's going back to school, using his Montgomery GI bill. He's not sure what he's going to study, but I've been trying to convince him to take my grandfather's advice and to study for whatever he can find that has the most openings in the paper and on Craig's List. That's what my aunt wound up doing, and now she works in a hospital assisting surgeries. So there you go. Older people do sometimes actually know what they're talking about.
Sometimes, however, they do not. Papa Bear is threatening to cancelling the internet. He knows Robin Hood's going back to school. He knows I've been submitting to publishers. But since his computer is broken, he doesn't think anyone else should get to play online either. He seems to be under the impression that we're not trying hard enough to find work (because we spend too much time online, you know, trawling Craig's List and filling out applications), since we haven't found it yet, but I don't think he realises that you can't just walk into a place and get a job anymore. He's not had to look for a job since Carter, but he's applying those principles to today's job market, and it's just frustratingly hilarious. And it also makes me want to cry. Which I did once, when he made it a point to tell me that I'm not looking hard enough. But the upside of that is now he doesn't talk to me at all, so all right. At least I'm not getting actively nagged at (just passive-aggressively when he thinks I can't hear him).
So if I completely disappear, it's because someone's being a selfish twat.
